In the fall of 1999, Hangtown Chapter 512 established a scholarship fund to be awarded to an El Dorado County resident to aid in furthering his or her aviation career. The mission of the EAA Chapter 512 Scholarship Committee is to provide an El Dorado County resident with an educational, aviation career scholarship and to provide a support network to all scholarship candidates.

Several fundraising events were held throughout the year to reach the committee's goals, the most significant fundraiser being a Monte Carlo Casino Night held in May 2000, which proved to be a huge success - both financially, as well as providing an entertaining social event for EAA members and supporters.

Scholarship applications were distributed throughout the local community and the Scholarship Committee selected two recipients to receive the award. In December 2000, two young students were awarded EAA scholarships; Chad Jackson was awarded $2500, and Brian Billa was awarded $1200. We wish these aviation enthusiasts well in their aviation careers!

Planning is underway for our 2nd Annual Monte Carlo Night to be held in spring 2001. All proceeds will benefit the EAA Chapter 512 scholarship fund. Join us for an evening of food, fun, and pseudo-gambling!
