| About Us and Our Mission |
Chris & Dorothy Anderson |
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is constantly working to improve your experience in aviation by fostering and encouraging individual participation, high standards, and access to the world of flight in an environment that promotes freedom, safety, family, and personal fulfillment. EAA Chapter 512 takes that mission to a personal level.
We are located in the small community of Placerville, California situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills 44 miles east of Sacramento, and 60 miles west of South Lake Tahoe. Our airport lends itself readily to vacations or overnight stops to winter skiing, summer boating, mountain hiking, or any other myriad of outdoor activities. Chapter 512's home is located in the EAA hangar on the west end of Placerville Airport.
Our membership numbers over 100 pilots, builders, and general aviation enthusiasts with over one-third of our members constructing a variety of homebuilt aircraft projects. Being a pilot is not a requirement of membership to EAA and Chapter 512. One unique aspect of Chapter 512 is our high level of active women that are involved in Chapter activities, not only in the cooking role, but also in the flying. We have so many active women pilots we even have an annual Ladies Fly-Out. We all participate in many fun and hardworking activities throughout the year and encourage member participation at each event. EAA Chapter 512 is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
Our Board meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at a meeting place specified below. Our Membership meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the EAA hangar at Placerville Airport.
